About the Project

Roccasecca is a utility-scale standalone battery energy storage project developed by IOWN on behalf of Eolus. The project reached a major milestone in 2026 with its successful sale to DESRI as a fully contracted, construction-ready asset. Development included securing key project components such as a long-term tolling agreement, equipment supply, EPC contracts, and project financing. Approximately $290 million in senior secured credit facilities were arranged to support construction and operations. The project is currently under construction and is expected to achieve commercial operation in 2026, supporting grid reliability and flexibility in the U.S. Southwest power market.

IOWN Energy and Eolus

IOWN serves as the exclusive North American development partner for Eolus and led the development, structuring, and execution of the Roccasecca project. The project was delivered as a de-risked, fully contracted asset and sold via an all-cash transaction, including the transfer of the project’s special purpose vehicle (SPV) to DESRI.
